WE PREVENT WILD FIRES
Climate Change increases the frequency and severity of high-risk weather events around the world, leading to an unprecedented bushfire risk. Research in Australia has found that bushfire seasons will start earlier and last longer, which leads to an increasing fire danger that poses an unacceptable risk to people, wildlife and properties.
Amokabel’s Covered Conductor provides a cost-effective method to reduce the risk of powerline-initiated bushfires by up to 99%.* CSIRO research has found that Covered Conductors are only marginally less effective than undergrounding at reducing fire risk and at a quarter of the cost, they provide the best benefit vs cost ratio on the market.
WE PREVENT POWER OUTAGES
Covered Conductor also provides a significant increase in network reliability on par with undergrounding and an order of magnitude better than bare conductor. In addition, Covered Conductor has an impressive expected service life of 45 years, equivalent to bare conductor.
With two thirds of power outages caused by vegetation contact, Covered Conductor can save utilities thousands of hours of supply interruptions, leading to greater customer satisfaction and less line crew intervention in difficult weather conditions.

WE SAVE LIVES
Lineworker injuries most often occur during high stress situations. Covered Conductor greatly reduces the number of occasions where line crews have perform troubleshooting during dangerous and stormy conditions. In addition, a downed Covered Conductor poses a much lower risk for the general public than a bare wire.
Wildlife contact with powerlines is one of the most common causes of outages. Covered Conductor effectively protects wildlife from electrocution in case of contact with the conductor.
